Testimonials

I have had the pleasure of working with Michelle on numerous occasions throughout my dance training.  She has seen me grow from a young middle school and high school student into a dance degree seeking adult with the same chronic pains.  Michelle was willing to treat my injuries alongside my dance classes so that I could continue to do what I love. Her understanding of dance, having a professional dance background herself, allowed me to explain which movements affected my pain using dance language we could both understand.

Michelle made herself available to me outside of appointments for last minute questions and advice when my dance schedule was particularly rigorous.  She made it very easy to trust her with my sensitive feelings about continuing to dance through the pain and allowed me to share details about my pain that I knew could remain confidential.  I have continued to have a relationship with Michelle beyond my immediate treatment, in which I can ask about options and remedies for smaller, acute injuries that I encounter.  I have had a very positive experience working with Michelle for over 5 years and would not have rehabilitated as successfully without her.

   Ballet Dancer

As a ballet dancer who was prone to injury due to my hyper mobility, Michelle was a very helpful and highly effective physical therapist to work with. Because Michelle was a former professional dancer, she completely understood both the emotional side and the physical side of dance injuries.  She was always very positive about returning to dance but logical about the steps involved to have that happen safely.  Michelle was outstanding at explaining the anatomy and exercises, which increased my understanding of my own body and how to recover as well as prevent future injuries.

She always goes above and beyond to help her clients.  I would highly recommend her to any dancer that wants to improve and recover efficiently as well learn about prevention of future injuries. Michelle is an amazing physical therapist and I feel lucky to have had a chance to work with her.

I challenge you to find a more knowledgeable, caring, and professional PT than Michelle Matthews. All I can say is, good luck with that search; this is the PT that you want taking care of your dance therapy needs.  I thought I was destined for surgery, as a matter of fact so did my neurologist.  It was scheduled, we had a date, time, and preparations were in order. Without Michelle Matthews’s ability and determination, I am sure I would have had surgery on my L4/L5 herniation.  She never gave up, pushed me to stay the course with rigorous manual therapy and challenging sessions, along with homework exercises.

I attribute all of the improvement in my condition to Michelle.  She is definitely a genuine person who truly wanted me to get better, which in turn made me work harder to improve.  I am now back to dancing, competing as well as teaching classes/ workshops.  Even though I have tried, I can never truly thank her for what she has done for me. After the work she put into making me better, I don’t see how I could ever go to another PT.

   West Coast Swing Dancer

My daughter has danced for 14 years and throughout that time has been impacted with injuries, as well as strength & flexibility issues. During each of her setbacks, she has been under the care of many different Physical Therapists, but none have helped her nearly as much as Michelle Matthews.  We first came in contact with Michelle in early 2014 when my daughter was recovering from an injury. Michelle's approach is different from other Physical Therapists we have seen. She integrates manual therapy with traditional physical therapy practices.

Michelle is classically trained in ballet and has over 25 years' experience in many dance forms. I believe her understanding of the physical demands on a dancer's body sets her apart from others in her field. Michelle provides appropriate exercises to help stretch and strengthen where needed to help Erin recover from injuries and prevent future injury.  Michelle is a kind and compassionate individual who is committed to helping dancers through medicine.  I believe she has been the key ingredient in my daughter's dance career.

   Dance Mom

Michelle is a fantastic physical therapist and her specialty in the performing arts was extremely helpful to my daughter when both overcoming a dance related injury as well as gaining significant tools in preventing further injuries. Michelle is both dedicated and extremely knowledgeable. Her expertise, combined with her passion to make a difference in the lives of those she works with, made my daughter's work with her a truly positive experience.

Michelle’s dedication to prevention of injuries is also very helpful as both of my daughters took her injury prevention classes, which were outstanding.  Michelle’s background in dance was a huge benefit to the work as well since she knew exactly how to understand and plan for the demands of full re-entry to my daughter's dance program. Michelle’s compassionate personality and great communication skills were very reassuring in the recovery process as well and gave my daughter confidence that she would return successfully to dance both safely and efficiently.
