What to Expect

What should I expect during my evaluation?

At Body Dynamix PT, you can expect one-on-one, individualized treatment from start to finish.  Because we are not restricted by insurance companies or their requirements for therapy, each treatment will be tailored to your specific needs. We specialize in hands-on manual therapy techniques, myofascial release, therapeutic exercises, cross-training methods, kinesio-taping and biomechanical movement assessment.  Your evaluation will consist of a thorough assessment of muscle strength, joint flexibility/ stability, and a dance-specific skill assessment. You will receive a therapeutic exercise prescription, and we will discuss the plan of care for future visits.

The demands placed on dancers are unique, and so treatment should focus on returning to dance-specific activity.  Our goal is to help you to understand the anatomy behind injuries and how common technical faults can cause chronic injury or pain. Having done this, we can then give you the tools to prevent/ limit the extent of any future injuries.

What should I wear or bring with me?

A physician's referral is not required for treatment, but if you do have one, please bring it, along with any relevant diagnostic testing results (x-rays, MRIs, etc.).

Patients should wear loose, comfortable clothing that provides access to the injured area. Your therapist will need to visually examine, palpate, and treat the muscles and other tissues directly.  We have locker rooms available so that you may change clothes before your appointment.

Please bring dance shoes, if applicable, so that we can thoroughly assess dance-related movement and technique.

What forms should I complete?

We recommend that all new patients fill out intake forms before arriving for their initial evaluation.  Upon scheduling their first visit, new patients will receive an e-mail that will guide them to complete all the necessary forms online.

**Please note: Minors who wish to schedule an evaluation must provide their parents' e-mail address so that the forms may be directed to them.

For younger dancers, does a parent need to be present for the evaluation and/ or treatments?

A parent or legal guardian must accompany a minor for the entirety of the initial visit to complete the necessary paperwork and to discuss the plan of care. On subsequent appointments, parents must accompany their child to/ from our clinic, but they are not required to observe or to remain in the facility. If they wish to stay, parents may observe directly in the therapy room or wait in the lobby until their child's treatment is complete.

Please remember that we must maintain a strict time schedule to ensure that everyone receives their full session, so plan to arrive 5-10 minutes early.
